This
is my first Casebook of Barnaby Adair story but I know it won't be
the last. I loved that this was such a complex and detailed story
with a large cast of characters and meticulous settings that span
society. I enjoyed the intricate details of Montague's work and
office and how much insight to his personality was provided. Penelope
and Griselda were so very engaging and I loved the intimate
relationships they shared with not only their husbands but with each
other. It was nice to see a realistic portrayal of class-distinction
being ignored. This was definitely not a mindless read and I enjoyed
the stimulation of trying to solve the mystery as well as follow
along with the cast of characters and suspects. If you are looking
for some intellectual entertainment in your historical, this is a
wise choice.
