I
was expecting Beauty and the Beast, yet what I got was more like
Eliza Doolittle and the Professor and I loved it! From the start I
didn’t know what to expect and I was dreadfully afraid that Lydia
had made a horrible mistake but I’m so glad she made the decision
she did. Lydia wasn't the typical heroine but she was easy to relate
to and I couldn't help hoping everything would work out for her
because she found herself in a situation totally not of her making.
Lord Sanford was a delight once we got to see him on his home turf.
It was wonderful watching him starch-up whenever he relaxed too much
around Lydia but it was so sweet watching his reactions. His mother
was quite the pistol and I loved her snotty attitude and take charge
ways and how her interference seemed to bring the lead couple and
their staff closer together. This was a scorching hot read with
elements of genuine sweetness and I enjoyed it immensely. This is a
must-read if you like your historicals hot and hysterical!
