1. What is one of your favorite Myths/legends to write about?
SH: I’ve been really enjoying exploring the fairy myths as there are so many out there and so many different kinds of fairies. I’m also partial the Beauty and the Beast as a concept which used in the Shadowlands series. When reading I’m always up for a King Arthur retelling or a Robin Hood tale.
2. If you could live back in time, what time period would you choose and why?
SH: I’m not sure I’d want to live in the past, but I’d love to visit. I’d like to see Roman Britain as its one of my favorite time periods.
3. Have you ever come across a song that might fit the theme of one of your books?
SH: Yes. I usually make a soundtrack for the story I’m working on as it helps keep me in the mood when I’m not working on it, but also helps put me back there when I have to edit.
4. Do you remember what you felt when you had your first kiss?
SH: My very first kiss was kind of er, really what’s the fuss about? I soon moved on to someone who did make sparks happen :-)
5. What was the most creative pick up line you've ever used on someone or someone used on you?
SH: I don’t think I’ve ever used one. I’m not sure I’ve ever had one used on me either, but I met my husband in high school so I haven‘t been on the dating scene as an adult.
6. When writing do you have a playlist of music you like to listen to? What are a couple songs on it?
SH: the music depends on the story. Some of the songs on my playlist for The Outcast Prince were:
Ghosts of the Past--Eskimo Joe
Crossfire--Brandon Flowers
Some of the Places I know--Gyroscope
Drumming Song--Florence and the Machine
Echo--Eskimo Joe
7. What do you do when you think nobody is watching?
SH: Hmm, write a few notes on the next scene I need to write or close my eyes for a few seconds if I’m tired.
8. What was your favorite childhood book?
SH: Probably playing Beattie Bow http://www.amazon.com/Playing-Beatie-Popular-Penguin-ebook/dp/B006O8VFHY/ by Ruth Park, after that I was really reading adult novels.
9. What is your favorite addition to chocolate?
SH: I love Green and Black’s Maya Gold, it’s orangey and full of spices.
10. What does your husband/significant other say about your writing romance novels? What about your family and/or do they read your books?
SH: my sister reads my books, but my hubby doesn’t. Romance isn’t his thing reading wise, however he has always been supportive of my writing and answers all my odd questions :-)
