Against the Sun by Kat Martin

Millions of lives are on the line. But for him, only one truly matters. It's not in bodyguard Jake Cantrell's job description to share his suspicions with his assignments. Beautiful executive Sage Dumont may be in charge, but Jake's not on her payroll. As a former special forces marine, Jake trusts his gut, and it's telling him there's something off about a shipment arriving at Marine Drilling International. His instinct is aroused...in more ways than one.

A savvy businesswoman, Sage knows better than to take some hired gun's "hunch" as gospel. And yet she is learning not to underestimate the man her grandfather hired to protect her. Determined to prove Jake wrong, Sage does some digging of her own and turns up deadly details she was never meant to see.

Drawn into a terrifying web of lies and deceit-and into feelings they can't afford to explore-what Jake and Sage uncover may be frighteningly worse than they ever imagined.

 My review
Sage Dumont, is in the run to become Vice President of her Grandfathers Marine Drilling company. In order to get the job, she must close on a huge deal to buy some used drilling equipment from a Saudi Arabian sheik. Being a concerned grandfather, he hires Jake Cantrell to be Sage's bodyguard until the negotiations are complete. Unfortunately someone wants her to fail and when Jake and Sage stumble upon a plot more deadly than they can imagine, they must combine forces just to survive.

I really enjoyed this story. It was the first in the series I read even though it is the sixth installement in the Raines Of Wind Canyon Series.  I loved Jake's loner type character and Sage with her strong loyalty to her grandfather.  The chemistry between them was great except they were convinced what they had was a fling, which in romance stories is usually part of the plot. After i finished this book I immediately went and got the rest of the series. Absolutely loved the book and Kat Martin is an amazing author.
